Simple, direct and to the point.
well there is only one flaw with team. i.e commitment .Apart from that indians dont fight for each and every run the score .

Overconfidence, lack of team spirit and winning attitude.Indian cricket team displays complete lack of professionalism & responsibility to make our nation proud with atleast a world cup.

I don't know how personal records can be flaunted if they can’t win a world cup together.Performances are pathetic, unreliable & have hurt sentiments & dreams of their die hard fans who wanted to see what players had conceited over the years.

first of all were attracted to money and love to enjoy so they went different add programme without playing county cricket
they were over confident by the latest win over sri lanka and other teams

India Team aab nakli hoo Gayi hai.

If a player scores a century or took 4 wickets in a crucial match they are not disturbed for atleast ten matches even if they do not perform. Past performances should not be taken in selection.

Leadership: We know the importance of drummer in boat racing & such events. Also if 50% of the players are facing in one direction and the remaining 50% in opposite direction and there is no good leader then their efforts would nullify each other and the boat would remain almost stationary.

I have already answered it is again here- Presense of persons like Sunil Gavaskar playing politics.

their team work.the indian team do not play as a team they play individually so it lacks team spirit

Giving of extreme importance to cricketers and their personal lives...this pampers them and adds on too much pressure. As a cricket player myself, pressure does not allow a player to perform his best. Moreover youth should be given many more opportunities and there must be a fixed age when cricketers must be forced to retire. This will do lot's for da team.

Indian cricket needs participation and cooperation from it's members. Indian cricket players need to concentrate and give their full attention to cricket. Look at them out in the 1st round , lost to Bangladesh ha ha. A team losing to a team like Bangladesh in such an important series can never become the best in the world. So, there are many aspects that stop Indian cricket from being the best in the world. The players before such as Kapil Dev and Ravi Shastri really concentrated and brought home the world cup. Sachin Tendulkar with such experience still gets out on ducks and does not fire on such important games. Before Sachin even concentrated but now he doesn't. If I were to pick a best player of the side i would choose Rahul Dravid, the captain. All others don't concentrate and probably have their attention on advertisements on television. Dhoni fired in his first few games but now he likes the ducks. So for me cooperation, participation and concentration is needed by Indian cricket to be the best in the world.

somehow , there seems to be two different set of cricketeers now. One is the sub continent teams and the rest.

All sub continent teams show the same characteristics
    a) very rarely magical in their performance
    b) Success gets into the heads very very soon
    c) arrogance creeps in after initial days of great cricket ( with very very few exceptions)
    d) mentally not as tough as others
    e) and absolutely non athletic
    f) very very unpredictable in the results given by the teams
    g) lack of team spirit , they hardly gel as a team

these characteristics match india and pakistan cricket teams more than Sri lankan team.

Players are getting too much importance than they deserve , most of the blame regarding this goes to the indian media.

As a result , players think that they are above the game of cricket and whats more sad to see is that the administrators also treat them the same way !

Otherwise nothing can explain sachin tendulkar and virender sehwag being in the team in the past few years.

Sachin has done nothing to indian cricket past 2002.
Sehwag is a miserable failure since 2004 .

So till administrators, selectors are not harsh and logical in their decesions , we'll be as poor team as we are now.
We can only get worse and nothing else

    Many things,
1- But first and far most is a genuine fast bowler is not available who can ruin the lower order bats-mans.
2- Lacking of bouncy pitches in India.
    3- BCCI's functioning style.
4- Poor infrastructure for domestic Cricket.
5- Not Searching & Exploring Talent.
For fifth point I need to write some additional comment.
Cricket is very popualest game in Uttar Pradesh like mumbai or Delhi and Uttar Pradesh is biggest state in India with respect to population. The population of U. P. is 17 carore, more than 4 times of Britain. But there is only one International stadium in State which is owend by government. Other one is K.D. babu singh stadium in lucknow is also a hockey stadium.
Whose responsbility is that to create an infrastrucure ?
Selection in National team is almost fair.
    But
How UPCA select player for Ranji trophy in this big state ?, very few people know.
There is need to develop cricket from school level in every district.
Then district team will play in commisinary level and commisinies team will play in state level.
In every state if there would be herarichy in selection then searching right talent will not be a big problem.

During the past few months indian cricket level has been degrading at a very fast rate. The main reason is the media and the endorsments which the cricketers do.
A cricketer is paid quite a big sum for playing a match but when a cricketer gets around thrice the amount of money by doing just an endorsment of a particular brand he will not bother about playin g the game.If a cricketer by playing for around ten hours gets around 10 Lakhs and by doing an endorsment or commercial he gets 30-40 Lakhs obviously his mind will go towards the commercial and because of this he does not concentrate on the game.
The public believes that Australia is undefeatable but thats not true any team can beat any team if they have the determination to do so.
Whenever India loses a match the public will leer and jeer at India discouraging the players even more.If the players are discouraged they will believe that they are incompetent and that if they are so incompetent whats the use of playing?
Then comes the coaching of the team and selection of the players. The BCCI selectors are so into politics that they are rejecting players who have proved their worth like Rana Deb Bose of Bengal,Ishant Sharma of Mumbai etc. these youngsters are the future cricket of India. Our team consists of more old players than young players.
This is what i feel why Indian cricket is not the best in the world. If these matters are looked into and the palyers themselves have the confidence nothing can stop india from being the best

*Lack of commitment of BCCI to improve infrastructure
*Board believes only in politics and no endeavour is made to improve cricketing facilities
    * Too much money for cricketers as soon they international arena
    * Media makes god of players with just one good performance
    * Lack of commitment amongst players and killer instincts

To be very frank, I am sorry to say that Team India is no where near the Ist place or the best Team in the world of Cricket, or in other words I can say that it do not deserve to be called as best Team. There are so many areas, which prevents them from the best place, which are as follows:
Fielding: Most of team members never dive in boundary area, or no aggression in the field whether it is in the slip, or short cover area or mid wicket area.
Batting: As mentioned above no aggression in batting also, allow bowler to dominate over the batsman. Simple reason not want to get out and do not try to accelerate the run rate, very defensive batting.
Bowling: Not a Single Wicket taking bowler, only bowls to contains the batsman, and not try to take his wicket. ( Agarkar, Pathan, Sri Sant & Bhajji), If some one has aggression he is too aggressive bowls so many wides, No bowls, (Zahir). Needs to bowl good of length, not very short, or full toss, try to get the wicket.
Captaincy: This is the area we need attention, a lot of improvement, or you can say is the weakest point.
    (i) Our captain has no aggression on the field.
(ii) Cannot take right decision at right time.
(iii) Not using his own head, doing ‘yes sir’ for his Boss.
(iv) No men management, not utilizing the right player at right place to field or bat or bowl.

One more point I want to mention here is to prepare the fast & bouncy Pitches in India, where our Ranji match should be played.

In the near future if the Team India want to do well in Cricket then the New Coach “Ravi Shastri” must follow the much needed advice written above, to improve our team’s performances. Other wise next time we will have to find out the reason, how the Team India lost the Test and One day series in Bangla Desh to be played very shortly.

    All those spices!

No, they just lost it man when most of the greats retired. They need to focus alot more on their batting skills especially their fielding. Maybe they could learn a think or two from Australia and South Africa in the field. Their bowling attack is ok but not so great, still needs lots of work and probably a new coach!

I think there is no oppurtunities for the best players among locals .Selectors are not able to find them &to give a good coaching to them. Then only the Indian team become the best best best for ever.

I think followig are the reasons for the great failure of the Indian Cricket Team.
1.We the Indians fail to develop a team spirit. If a game is a solo game then we excell in that such as Chess, Tennis, rifle shooting etc, etc. But when a good team work is needed (Hockey, Football, Cricket, Relay Race etc. ) we cannot perform.

    2. Selection of the team is based on the zone to avoid the imbalance of the zonal representation. But it ultimately reflects on the imbalance of the team.

    3. Discrimination of the players as senior and newcomers is often noticed in the team selection and treatment.

    4. Players are busy with making money by working in commercials.

These are some of the problems which I have observed during last few years. To overcome these here are few suggestions.... They may not be very practical as they seem to be but unless we work out to solve these we will not excell in any of the teamsport.

A good team spirit can be developed if the team is staying together for at least 1- 2 years for constant practice and thereby improving the individual skill. They will know each other in a better way, their behaviour, their + and - points, their love about the play and the team players etc.

There should not be any discrimination of Senior player or a newcomer. All the members of the team should be treated at the same level.

Selection of the team should be strictly based upon the performance and fitness and not on any other parameteres such as seniority, zone/state representation, their long back performance etc.

Winning and fighting spirit should be developed in each of the players by the coach and the captain of the team. Fighting spirit should be maintained till the last ball of the game.

Ban or restriction on number of commercials a player is working for should be there.

These are some of the suggestions which I think must be thought of

    Thanks

    Shirgurkar

INDIAN TEAM DOESNT HAVE THE AUSSIE KIND OF SPIRIT.....IF YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THE 1983 WORLD CUP WINNING TEAM AND 2007 SQUAD, DEFINETLY 2007 SQUAD WAS BETTER BUT IT DID NOT HAVE SPIRIT(JALWA) LIKE THE 1983 WC TEAM......INDIAN TEAM BASICALLY LACKS MENTAL STRENGTH WHICH STOPS IT FROM BEING THE BEST.....

    Dear Sunil Gavaskarji.....

5 steps that can make our team the best

    1. CORRUPTION is so deep rooted in all areas of Indian Cricket.....If we make all areas of selection to indian team TRANSPARENT and non currepted, we can improve the quality of the team a lot.....It should be clear to the public, why one player gets selection to the team, or why one person loses position.......

    2. We should have a coach who knows india better....who can understand the feelings of team members and who can motivate the players to flourish their plus points to the maximum.....Its better to have a senior and talented person from India as a coach

    3. The captain should be a constant motivator....excellent communicator and a true role model.....He should be a match winner, fighting till the last ball....

    4. There should be 2 or 3 expert fielders in our team.....Fielders can win matches in any situation.... Based on the number of runs saved in first class matches or no. of catches taken or no. of direct hit run outs, they should get position in the team.....

    5. All the batsmen, bowler, fielder or wicket keeper, should be constantly scrutinized and must be given rest after 2 successive bad performance...

Thank you for reading my response in the midst of your busy life

    Wishing you all the happiness

The players are not focused on the game ,there is too much politics involved, and only performing players should get a berth in the team or they should be fired.
Selections should be based on performance and there should be no other criteria. Its simple the players perform to get in the team and then they forget their job and concentrate on earnings from endorsements. They should remember they represent a country and not themselves.

    The main reasons are:
    1. players are under enormous pressure
2.The Indian cricket team is one of the teams in the world which is playing one of the most number of matches in the world, giving very less amount of time for the players to practice.
3.Always involved in controversies, like Greg Chappell controversy etc.
    4. Players are becoming money- minded, like for two runs they are getting 37,000.
    5.Endorsments.
6.Time is precious players waste their time in endorsments.
