Not sure what to buy...looking for small car? Any experience/advise?
I've been looking at Hyundai Accents, Chev Aveos and Ford Focus. Anyone have any experience or advise for any of these, I currently have a Hyundai Elantra and have not had any major problems.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Stay away from Korean cars. Kia, Hyundai, & the Chevy Aveo. Yes the Aveo is a rebadged Daewoo made in S. Korea. They all have the worst resale values of any car out there. The new 08 Ford Focus is very nice. The Chevy Cobalt is also nice. Even used those two are good cars. Look at the Honda Civic. Great car! G'luck!

I would highly recommend buying a Toyota Yaris because it gets excellent gas mileage, and it is a very stylish and reliable vehicle.

hyundai has been improving in quality every year for a decade. They do well in car mag comparisons against benchmark hondas and toyos.
Yes, the redesigned focus is a proven piece. Like i responded to the lexus/ infinity guy....what car do you think looks great..?! waht car fits your personality and your budget?
You might even make a list of good /bad things each car offers.
yep, you will notice that most imports in this segment have better resale value.
Why are you wanting out of the elantra? sounds like it is serving you well

Dont go with ANY of those. Get a used Accord, Fusion, or Camry. Small cars don't have as many safety features or luxury features. Just go back a few years(03-04) and you can find a very nice used mid ranged car that you will enjoy much more than a new entry level car.

Of those three the only one you should consider is the Ford Focus.
The Elantra is not the same as the Accent. The new Accent is supposed to be decent if you get a good one, but a lot of people have been having inexplicably terrible fuel economy...like low 20s...and the dealers can't figure it out and won't do anything about it.
The Aveo is made by Daewoo. Daewoo went bankrupt IN KOREA, one of the most protectionist car markets around. That should tell you something. They have a proud history of making cars that look nice, but have papier-mache interiors that fall apart if you look at them funny. At least the engine is an Ecotec, though...that's something I suppose. Also avoid any Suzukis except the XL-7 and SX-4. All the other ones are also Daewoos, and pretty uniformly terrible.
Add the Mazda 3, Nissan Versa and Sentra, Honda Fit and Civic, Toyota Yaris and Corolla, and Scion xD to your list and go shopping.
