Religiously, God is the only one that knows when the individual person will pass away. However do not be confused. There is no mention about mankind as a whole. This is only in reference to the individual person or immediate group.

No it's a ridiculous premise to stake the future of the world on an ancient calender that just happens to end on that day. Hell the authors of the calender haven't used it for centuries upon centuries so do you really think they have any influence on the planet? It's all superstitions for the gullible.

No think about it, 12.21.12. What are the chances of the date being like that, that the Earth will be destroyed. I think it'll be another day. Yet, the sun is a ticking time bomb, but it won't blow up for at lest a few million years I think. A second Ice Age could happen soon though.

There are a lot of things that can end the Earth, at any second, Earth could go off its axis and wander freely in space, we would die instantly. Not saying it will, but it could anytime; in an hour, a day, week, month, year, anytime. Huge nuclear war could speed up the time of the coming Ice Age; start quicker.
