This idea that Sikhs randomly shot Hindus is false. If you know a Sikh who shot a random Hindu, then he or she must not be a true Sikh, or else maybe it wasn't a random Hindu, maybe it was a Sikh hating Hindu. Some of these so called Sikh terrorists gave money to poor Hindu families, even though Sikhs do not agree with Hindu beliefs. Sikhs give whatever they can to whoever is in need, no matter if they are, Sikhs, Hindus, Muslims, Christians, etc. Our Gurus even died to protect Hindus. We avoid violence when possible, but we're not afraid to take up the sword in the defense of the innocent.

It is a little known fact in the west that Sikhs were persecuted by the Indian government, even after we gave our lives to create a free India. We did more for India than any Gandhi ever did! Assassinating Indira Gandhi was self defense pure and simple, the facts have just been hidden by the pro-Hindu government.

I'm very proud to be a Sikh, it was the best decision I ever made in my life, I finally found out who I really am.

Its a sheer act of Terrorism, first housing arms in a religious place and then ordering the death of the Prime Minster. The fact that most Sikhs on this forum support an Assasination proves they aren't a peace loving people; and that massacre outcome its a mathematical function of their thinking

no, the terrorists in india were held up in the golden temple, which is the shrine to the sikh people. indira gandhi, the prime minister at the time, ordered the indian army to storm the golden temple, angering many sikhs and consequently one of her sikh body guards shot her because of it. after that, there were sikh riots all over india because of the assasination. the cia had nothing to do with it.

Although the 'old' CIA was involved with this kind of caper in those days, I do not think they had anything to do with Indira Gandhi's assassination because nothing she did was a direct threat to US foreign policy at the time. It was the way she dealt with the Sikhs and the 'invasion' of the Golden Temple at Amritsar that precipitated events leading to her being killed.

It wasn't any terrorism, it was fully righteous and even if it again emerges today, it would still be, apart from all bomb blasts of 1990s conducted under direct leadership of Pakistani ISI. There were reasons for it, big good reasons for Khalistan movement. Indira Gandhi was a killer of Sikhs as I don't need to repeat that and Sikh action of taking up arms was the most intelligent answer to it. Thanks to the Sikh military action, many of the then anti-Sikh politicians, policemen, and army officials were delivered death otherwise they would've tortured lots of more people to death. If you get to know about the movement really up and close, you'll wet your pants and may not sleep for nights, it can happen it was that scary and in all respects, the Khalistan Sikhs then or as well lovingly call them as Our Kharku Singhs were the best defense normal innocent Sikhs had against an entire hateful and racially biased govt. machinery. Truly the more I say of them the more the respect for them grows in me. And most of all, the very best defense of Sikhs then is today labeled as terrorism and let alone expecting any justice maybe after events like these war and bloodshed is the only solution after all.

No - Indira Gandhi propped up Bhindranwale to do petty politics and counter the Akalis. Never give power to a man of God - a man who has God in his head all the time is to dumb to think about anything else. Look at the Pope - he is creating chaos in third world countries by advocating conversion ...........

So Bhindranwale predictably turned into a low iq monster. Bhindranwale and his gang of criminals had planted bombs in buses, trains, shot thousands of Hindu villagers at night in front of their families, and even innocent Hindu women and Children. Then these cowards, criminals and terrorists, entered the Holy Gurdwara to take shelter behind Sikh women and Children.

In the siege of the Gurdara these terrorists had defiled the Gurdwara by defecating in the food vessels and donation boxes of the Gurdwara. They turned the Gurdwara into a fortress by stocking bombs, ammunition and made holes in the walls to shoot bullets. The tragedy is that 400 pilgrims also died

Indira Gandhi was assasinated because Sikhs felt she should not have invaded the Gurdwara but negotiated a settlement.

extra - ive cut and pasted from my archives..................

SHOULD INDIRA GANDHI NOT HAVE ORDERED THE INVASION OF THE GURDWARA ?

One argument goes that if the Indian Govt could successfully cordon of 100’s of kilometers the Indian Pak border, why could they not cordon off a km of periphery around the Gurdwara and starve out the terrorists. After all, within a few years Muslim terrorists laid a similar siege to a Masjid and were fed chicken Biryani with negotiations. Sikhs were brutally discriminated because they consist only a 2% minority in India.

The opposite argument is that Bhindranwale’s consistent stand had been that if the Indian Government would invade the temple, it would help the cause of Khalistan. The Indian government was worried that if this fact would be openly declared before the invasion, a large section of the Punjab police and religious Sikhs might have crossed over to support Bhindranwale. A protracted siege would then help create Khalistan into a reality, and tens of thousands of innocent Hindus in Punjab and Sikhs outside Punjab would be ethnically cleansed, if not killed. So, 400 pilgrims was a small and tragic sacrifice.

A third argument is that the Indian Government is allways facing difficult seige attacks, and had enough experiance, recources and Goodwill amongst Sikhs to have found an easier way out. They should have handled the matter more sensitively. This is the argument i as an Indian first and Sikh second would put forward.

Edit - Hey Mathias Singh - you may have not like my answer - but i think you gave a super answer
