Its a team Table tennis tournament equivalent to world team championships.

The Corbillon cup is named after Marcel Corbillon who was the president of French TTA and also donated the trophy for the event way back in 1933.

The original trophy donated by Corbillon was lost during the second world war when Berlin was occupied, the original trophy was never recovered.

China has been the most successful nation in the history of the event, winning 16 events including 15 of last 16, Japan has won the event 8 times, Romania 5 times, Germany and Czechosolovakia have won it 3 times, USA and England twice, where as South Korea and USSR won it once each.

corbillon cup is one of the 7 international cup played in table tennis .... The Corbillon Cup, donated in 1933 by Marcel Corbillon, President of the French TTA, for the inaugural Women's Team event in the 1934 World Championships (held in Paris, December 1933).
