a crush is more like an infatuation....or developing a sense of strong feeling for someone. commitment is long-term and generally means that you are in love with the person you are committing yourself to.

No one says just a commitment. They say "just a crush" meaning it has no meaning and no real love, like nothing, no substance and didn't go anywhere. Commitment means loyalty and means the relationship is exclusive and the people are probably entertaining a more permanent relationship like marriage.
