I'm not going to lie. If you have this done by a doctor, it's probably going to hurt.
They will either freeze it with nitrogen, burn it with a laser, or burn it with a strong acid. The idea behind all of these methods is to produce a blister, killing the skin that the wart is anchored in, and causing the wart to come off with that dead tissue.
The good news is that the smaller the wart is, the less painful it is. A very small wart can often be removed with one treatment, larger warts usually need multiple treatments. So if you go in while it is still quite small you will probably be done with it quickly.
You could also try an over-the-counter treatment, I'd only use the liquid salicylic acid. (The OTC freeze treatments don't work very well.) Pro: you can remove it yourself with little or no pain. Con: It takes several weeks of twice daily treatment and might not remove the wart.
