I was skeptical for years too. On paper, they look about the same but the Mac costs more. In reality, every day I try to print something off my Mac it prints, everything I open a program it opens. It's been almost a year with this make and it runs as well as the first day. I now dread using a PC because they're not as reliable, they don't always work and often for no apparent reason. So what does it matter if you could get 2gb ram 120gb hard drive for 400 less if the thing never does the simple job you wanted it to do in the first place?

i've been a PC person my entire life, and I used Macs here and there and always argued that PCs were better, However I'm decided to buy the 2nd gen macbook recently because I wanna do video editing on final cut, I've owned this machine for about a week now and I absolutely love it. It's definitely different from PCs in every way, and once you get used to it you'll realize why everyone who owns a mac book loves it.

plus the new trackpad on the new macbook is VERY cool, eliminates the use for multiple buttons and has all the functions of a PC mouse with the scroller, and can do a bunch of cool things (look into it) all fit into a single touch sensitive button. overall this was worth the money, I never thought I'd argue in favor of a Mac but here i am.

don't listen to what others have to say about the macbook who don't actually own one. and ask yourself, would you rather be the cool mac guy in the commercials or the dorky old nerd dude with the glasses?

I got tricked into wanting one..... You don't want to too.
The MacBook is $1000 and I have seen way better PCs for around $300!!!! My teachers use MacBooks and their skin marks are on the sides near the track pads. They mess up every 2 seconds when they type. The MacBooks freeze everyday and they have to restart them and make sure the SMARTBoard will work again. The graphics got blurry in one class and we couldn't see a powerpoint! So finally one of our teachers brought in their PC and it got better because everything worked, we could see it, when we had to type something in no skin, no restarting everyday, and so our school sold all of our apples and got PCs. Vista is really good and don't listen to those ***** Apple commercials. See it for yourself. And the good thing is, on a Vista computer you can change it to XP if you want. If you like it, FINE!!!!

the people who say no, probibly dont own one. I do
With macs its the little things that just make things easyier. I can pretty much do everything on my mac with voice commands,
This computer may not be able to play High end games but it can play tonnes of games, i play World of warcraft and Cod4 and age of empires no problem on my computer.

I have also dropped my macbook onto a hardwood floor and it just cracked the casing, which i replaced and everything still works fine. its very durable.

the CD drive is cool cause you can just slide the disc in without having to find the button or anything,

the power adapter is magnetic so if you trip over the cord it simply comes out without any damage done. but it is sturdy enough to stay in without always getting taken out accidentally.

it runs so smooth and macs are less vulnerable to viruses because there are less users.

    get the macbook

    you will love it

yes, macbooks are certainly worth the cost.
Macs are better in so many way that u shouldn't even be asking this question. Battery life, efficiency (can run on the power of single light bulb) software that comes free with it that would normally cost like a thousand dollars for the pc equivalent and the general reliability of a mac are the things that make it so much better. These things make up for the extra cost and anyway, if you go and take it out with your friends, they'll be impressed.

    www.apple.com/au/ilife (for software)
www.apple.com/au/macbook (for things about hardware and specs)

Have fun with your MAC! (hopefully)

    Cheers.

Well if you were to add up all the real costs for every part of the computer, no. But the OS system, yes. Even though macs cost more they seem to be more reliable than a Windows OS.

It's definitely worth the cost. I haven't had the cash to afford another laptop but I do own a Mac iBook G4. It's the older version, but I still absolutly love it. What I like about them the most is that (you've probably heard this) but Mac's can't get viruses, so you don't have to worry about a good anti-virus program, and keeping it updated, or any of that. Just get on and go. It's pretty sweet.

let me guess, that mac is twice as much as a pc with a 15 in, 3 gb ram, 120gb hard disk, with a comparable graphics card? idk, tough question.

Yes, since Microsoft's Vista sucks. My mom just bought a PC and she's already complaining. I have a Mac laptop and it works just fine.
