I think you have a very short memory. In Rajiv Gandhi's time India set forces to protect the tamils. (IPKF). After a few months our soldiers ended up fighting the LTTE whom they were supporting. The LTTE turned against the Indian state. The ultimate result was the gruesom assassination of Rajiv Gandhi.

India does not want to repeat the same mistake.

Further India can not intervene on its own. A UN mandate is necessary.

Firstly India didn't supply any ammunition to SriLanka.The LTTE is a terrorist organization and how can any one no...nay human support terrorists?Pranab Mukherjee spoke about the Tamils who were there in the LTTE camps to prez of Lanka when he went there for a tour in the recent past.
The second thing is LTTE is bothering Lanka.How can we say another country to keep quiet on its internal affairs?The tamils in the LTTE camps are taken to rehabilitation centres.They are being provided food and necessary help.Once the crisis is over they can live happily in Lanka.
Don't you know that Rajiv Gandhi was killed by LTTE?How can any one prevent a country from dismantling terror?

Aiding Sri Lanka against the LTTE is not just Sonia's personal agenda, but all Indians'. LTTE dared to kill a popular Indian leader (even though I wouldn't vote for his party now) and LTTE must pay for it, now.

Also, understand that we Indians do NOT want to and will never support LTTE, because if or once LTTE gains land and power, it will push for a united Tamil Elam containing both Sri Lanka's as well as India's Tamil parts.
