Why the crowd gets hostile for certain cricketers?

South African born England cricketers may be targeted by crowd in South Africa in next Eng-SA ODI series. Monty Panesar was targeted by Australian crowed few years ago. Andrew Symonds was mocked by Indian crowd two years ago.

What can be reasons for this?

Arsalan is correct. The media brainwashes people into attacking certain faces within cricket. It will sadly continue for as long as cricket remains. The thing people seem to forget is that we are all humans, we are all from the same planet, some of us wish to play for other teams because of certain reasons. The thing that annoys me is the fact that racism becomes apart of it. For example, when a certain person/people were racist towards Andrew Symonds, I felt that was uncalled for.

Obviously alot of it is just plain patriotism. Certain countries thinking they are superior to others, in a non-nasty way. Some of it is just playful banter. For example the 'Barmy Army' (England) chanting along with the Aussies during the many Ashes series. This is just for the spirit of the game.
