My hard disk "F" drive asks for format everytime i switch on my system. help !!?

only 1 drive asks for a format everytime i switch on my PC.im using WD 160gb HD purchased a just a year back.and sometimes after the welcome screen it says "checking the file system on "F" drive. the boot process is very slow so i come to know that the "F" drive will ask 4 a format again.plz help

thank u fells, iv done everything u mentioned b4 asking the question. some ants made their way into my hard drive. probably there r some irreparable bad sectors. dunno whether ants r responsible or not. tried hdd regenerator, but i got a trial version.il get a new HD

Not an issue, first of all take a back up of this F drive into any other drive. after it by right click on the drive f select the format option and formet it with quick formet, it will solve the issue and boost up booting process.

do a chkdsk on the f drive.
if this does not work then recovery is difficult..
try using test disk in that case..

i too had the same problem it solved itself after i formatted my entire hard disk.
