    just take LCM...Least Common Multiple....multiply the term (7/4) with 3 and the term (2/3) with 4...now both the denominators become the same....thus just subtract the numerators....(7/4)*3 - (2/3)*4 = (21/12) - (8/12) => (21-8)/12 =>13/12....its just so simple.......

    7/4 - 2/3

    =LCM 4,3, = 12

    =3x7/12 - 4x2/12

    =21/12 - 8/12

    =13/12

    Find their least common multiple...
    the lowest of 4 and 3 is 12... so multiply 7/4 X 3/3 = 21/12
    and 2/3 X 4/4 = 8/12

    21/12 - 8/12 = 13/12 = 1 1/12

A good way to find a common multiple is to multiply the two denominators together

There is another way.Convert there figures into decimles.7/4 is 1.75 and 2/3 is 0.66.Subtract 0.66 from 1.75 and you get 1.15.Of course in this exercise you loose 0.006 always. But LCM method in accurate,no loss.

so first you have to find a common denominator between 4 and 3. multiply the numbers by 2, 3, and so on, until you find a number which is divisible by both numbers. In this case, the common denomerator is 12.

Next, you loook at the first fraction, 7/4.Because you multiplied 4 by 3 to get 12, you have to multily 7 by 3 too. Now you have 21/12.

Look at the second fraction next. Because you multipled by 4 to get 12, you have to multiply 2 by 4 too. Now you have 8/12.

Next, subtract the numerators, NOT THE DENOMIRATORS.
    21 - 8 = 13.

    your final answer is 13/12.

Have a common denominator. The least common multiple of 4 and 3 is 12.
So 7/4 is 21/12 b.c. 3x4 is 12, so you multiply the numerator by 3 as well.
2/3 is 8/12 b.c. 3x4 is 12, so you multiply the numerator by 4 as well.

    Your new equation: 21/12-8/12
    The answer: 13/12 or 1 1/12

    7/4 - 2/3
first find the common denominator by taking LCM of 4 and 3 is 12
    calculate:- 12/4=3 and 7*3=21
    12/3=4 and 4*2=8
    so the eq.is:- 21/21 -8/21
    13/12
