About installing a new os.............?

Question

i have vista basic nd its slow so i want to install win 7 overwriting vista in c drive.......so can i move all my data to j drive and install win 7 without formatting j drive?can u please explain the process?

why you have to do all that... I read that windows 7 upgrades directly from vista, so upgrade Vista to W7 .... your all data should remain safe w/o moving or doing anything, if it does not then MS is making false claims...

yeah you can save all your data when you install windows 7. all u need to do is dont format you hard drive when your installing it just click install on your c: drive and u will have all of you data ina folder called old windows and u need to drag the folders to ur new programs folder

yes u can!!!u need not have 2 foemat ur c drive nor do ya hav to move them to smothr drive..coz whn u install win7 it automatically stores alll ur files present in c drive in a new folder cald windows old...u can acess them evn after win7 is installd n ur pc..n 1 more thng plz check if ur system satisfies the requirements for instaln win7...

yea, move your data on any drive other then C. Vista is a failed os. So format drive c. Your win7 Cd must be a bootable CD. Then install Win7.
