How do you study for an exam?

If you have 3 days to study for an exam, 4 chapters to read and minimal notes (because you hardly go to class) but a good aptitude for knowledge and a lot of discipline.

How would you structure these 3 days.

I would read the 4 chapters, making an outline of the info in it. The next steps depend on the type of course it is.

For languages, business, economics, history: I would make flashcards of what's most important. Usually making the flashcard is enough for me to remember things, but if I have a chance to run through them a couple of times, it's good.

For math and science: I would do four problems from each chapter - should give enough time to do all four chapters and have a representative set of problems. Then flashcards for the most important formulas, definitions or concepts.

For philosophy, political science, religion, and some history (essay questions): I would think about possible questions and write brief outlines of the answers I'd like to give. Often, you can work the concepts from your sample answers into the real questions.

I will say, I usually went to class and took decent notes, and my main method of studying was to rewrite those notes, then making flashcards if there was a lot of jargon. It works pretty well.

Good luck...
