Mozilla Firefox says "The connection has timed out"?

Question

I can't browse internet using my Mozilla Firefox, at the same time i can do the same with many browsers like IE8, Opera, Flock, Epic.
what may be the reason?
what should i do to correct the problem?
Also in the file menu Work Offline is not checked.
please help regarding this.

your firefox may be set to use a proxy which is already broken. Try checking it.

Tools > Option > Advanced > Network > Settings

then tick the radio button that say "Use system proxy settings" or "No proxy"
