Bell Bajao (Hindi for 'ring the bell') is a campaign which urges local residents to take a stand against physical abuse through simple acts. The campaign was launched on August 20, 2008 by Breakthrough in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, UNIFEM and the UN Trust Fund. "Bell Bajao!" is a domestic violence awareness campaign. This campaign promoted individual action against domestic violence. The campaign featured award-winning Public Service Announcements, as well as media and training tools. The campaign targets boys and men and calls on them to intervene if they witness domestic violence. A key aspect of the campaign was thinking of men as partners in ending domestic violence, instead of only as violators.

as the name suggest bell bjao means ring the bell or stand against the cruelty of the people which they are doing against those who are much weaker than other... eg. if a husband beats his wife at home than we can stop this by just going to their home

For what purpose we have to ring the bell (bell bajao) is to be understood by the person who begins to ring the bell. If it is for the right cause, there will be a meaning for such bell being rung and if not, others will laugh at. But in practical field, there are people nodding their head simply.

For too long, women have been regarded as less than human, and therefore, not entitled to these human rights. Breakthrough works to transform attitudes towards women so that they can realize their full potential. One key example is the Breakthrough Mann Ke Manjeere music video that has become a cult classic that speaks to woman’s celebration of self-discovery and the ability to make choices in life.

This campaign helps to prevent the domestic violence. there are the people who are creating violence in their own houses they fight their Childs and wife if someone try to stop them, they say it is their homes matter do not interfere. For this kind of the people we have to ring the bell, stop them to doing this. Because the people who are suffered is a human being first. We have to help them. We have to stop the domestic violence.

Congrats and it's about time too because there is so much of it going around.

Bell Bajao - Ring Ring (English) (Subtitled)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmNz0cTcx…

    Quote from post:

When a man (played by Boman Irani) hears a neighbor beating his wife, he suddenly wants to make a call -- at his neighbor's house. Breakthrough's latest multimedia campaign "Bell Bajao" (Ring the Bell), urges men to take a stand against domestic violence. One out of every three women faces violence behind closed doors, so whether it's ringing a door bell to stop a crime, or speaking out, make sure you're doing your part to ensure women in your communities are living free of violence.

Bell Bajao campaign is practical measure in which public is the participant. In this campaign it is asked, pursue to the general public that where they see some quarrel or violence is going in any house, ring the bell or knock the door, this way the man or who is involved in quarrel get disturbed. and chances of violence decreases.

Bajao bell ,but make sure who is pray.Remember all tears may not be true.Whose gun ,whose bullet..ok but who triggered is also equally important.

So be careful and make sure (before and after) rigging the bell.It does not mean poking your nose.

Bell Bajao shows how simple acts can protect a woman from violence. But the main point is that the people help to each other not ignore this. if people ignore then this type of campaign doesn't mean.
