It is enjoyable to try to solve the challenging questions of math. Many of my contacts are well versed in the subject and ask what are indeed challenging and I fail to do them most of the times. So I mark them as interesting so that when solved by someone, I can read the solution and learn some interesting techniques of solving such problems. But to... show more

I answered the following question on Math in America and the asker chose my answer as BA. Imbroglio posted the following comment to my answer which is valid and thought-provoking. "To madhukar sir, I agree with sir's view. But i have a baffling evidence. The performance of american students at IMO jas been stupendous. Is this an indicator of real quality of math education in america or does it tell about how few best ones elevate the reputation of nation." I am interested in IMOs and have collected a lot of information from various websites. I also have a table giving performance of different countries since the inception of IMO and what Imbroglio has stated about the performance of American students is true. Though I replied him explaining the reason for his observation as best as I knew, I invite comments of experts, especially those who may be well versed with the administration of IMOs, its syllabus and suitability for participation by students of different countries and reasons of their performance. Sorry! I forgot to post the question that I answered. http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind...

NOTE- Assuming that the hurdle created by destiny is unavoidable and incurable. Tough and kind of negative Q.. I hope to see some positive answers though ! Thank you. Keep :)
