  • What is the reason for food crisis and increasing prices?

I feel the reason for food crisis is more and more agricultural land is converted into residential complexes and more and more agricultural land is used to grow biofuel producing crops and medicinal plants, which produces more income for companies rather than food crops. My solution for the problem is every country should have some agricultural land managed by the government to grow essential food crops, so that there will not be any food crises instead of importing food from other countries or depending on private players, whose main interest is money, which is only a very natural motive to do any business. As for the increasing price of fuel, fuel price is inceasing based on mere speculation of demand and supply shortages. I feel that manufacturing companies have a say in the prices, they are hiking prices unnecessarily to make short term profits. Where is all the oil being pumped from Iraq going?
