• What can I use to protect my paintwork?

I have sanded and painted my stairs and bannister in white satin. I want to seal them with something to protect them and minimise chipping and scratches. Originally, I was going to use varnish but have been advised that this will cause a yellow tinge over time. What else can I use? I also want to keep a fairly matte finish. Thanks in advance!

My best friend has a 4yr old son by her ex partner who was very abusive. For the last 18 months he has been trying to obtain access to the child via the courts. Despite the arrests made on him for domestic abuse/assault, theft from her house and a long list of other reported crimes on his part that she has suffered (none of which the CPS agreed to charge him with) and his frequent abuse of alcohol and illegal drugs, there is an order in place stating that my friend must travel 30 miles away by train every fortnight to an access centre with her son. She has moved house numerous times and avoided attending family court and the access centre as any influence from the childs father is damaging and dangerous without a doubt (I know this because I have witnessed incidents myself). She attended a court hearing this week after receiving a letter stating that if she does not attend the access centre on xmas eve then she will be arrested and imprisoned on xmas day and her children taken into care. Basically, I want to know where the law stands in Scotland if she flees there temporarily until she obtains the next court date she is waiting for to try and get the access order quashed and, her case re-opened. She has been informed that if she attends the access centre then she cannot apply for the order to be quashed. However if she doesn't attend then the children will be in care on xmas day...No win situation! I do not want moral opinions on the matter as this is only a brief outline of the whole situation and to tell the whole story would take forever and a day. I am only interested in the law and also whether I am likely to be contacted for potential information if I am named as a contact, by the father (who knows we are very close). Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know what the difference is between these 2 shades when they are applied?

I apologise if I have worded this in a somewhat confusing manner!!

This website is a mess if it is acceptable to aid suicide, but not to ask an innocent question about cigarettes! Would like to hear others opinions and experiences of this warped view on acceptable behaviour!

As I am so young, and have had counselling to deal with my issues, I was hoping it was at the employers discretion rather than a rule in general. Can anyone tell me if there is a time limit and if so, how long??

A person who underfeeds their kids would be prosecuted and would lose custody of their kids, so what's to say doing the opposite extreme isnt just as bad? It increases risk of obesity, heart disease, cancer and depression to name a few. I received 13 thumbs down and only 3 thumbs up! I suspect many of these thumbs down came from the parents defending their own actions, so would like to know what others think, as I think it is a fair comment to make, and I believe it is important to give my Son the best start in life. Thanks in advance!

That also is a perfectly valid question. The world has gone 'political correctness' mad, and people should be allowed to ask a question even if it offends a SMALL minority! You cant please everyone so do you think the community guidelines should be a little more leniant??
