  • How do I stop believing in God??

How do I lose my belief in God ? I read about and think about all the evidence for there not being a god at all, and it all makes perfect sense to me. My brain tells me that there is no God nor heavenly beings/signs etc in the world. In fact my own life is proof to my mind that no God exists.but for some reason I can t stop feeling that there is a God, that He is somehow watching over me influencing my whole life and listening to my thought. Now let s make this clear I don t want to believe in God. I once have a strong belief and I found it quite detrimental to mental health. I seriously became very ill believing that an all loving powerful god was abusing me and mankind. I couldn t live with it, so I am trying to research evidence to disprove the existence of God, and have found so much to support that need, but no matter how much I try, in my heart I can t shake the lie. Please help as this is ruining my life

  • First time british passport advice please?

Hi, I'm 27, British and applying for my first ever passport. When I was filling in the form, the required proof of identity/nationality documentation was my mother's birth certificate. My problem is that as I am estranged form my mother and have been for a number of years, I'm unable to produce her birth certificate. I couldn't even purchase her BC myself as I don't know the details of her parentage either. I don't know anything about my father so that's no help.....

Any advice would be greatly appreciated please?? Need my passport ASAP

    Many thanks :)

  • Can someone tell me what this means on a recipe please?

I want to try and cook stuffed peppers for the first time but I don't know what the recipe means by 'cut side up'?

Use a small knife to cut the top out of the peppers, then scoop out the seeds. Sit the peppers on a plate, cut-side up, and cook in the microwave on High for 5-6 mins until they have wilted and softened.

Can someone tell me please? I don't ever recall seeing a stuffed pepper with the side cut up........? :/

    Thanks

  • Can someone please explain Reduction-ism in the simplest terms?

I keep looking for simple terms for reductionism but even they are too complicated! Can someone make it REALLY simple, as if you're talking to a 5 year old. Some examples would be great too.

  • Why do humans obey even when it puts lives at risk?

I am doing an essay for A Level psychology and the subject is the Stanley Milgram's electric shock treatment.Do you have any opinions as to why human beings obey orders even when lives are in jeopardy? What are the ethical issues with this experiment and do you think the knowledge gained from it justifies the experiment?

  • Will the NHS fund a hair transplant?

I'm a 25 year old woman and have a scar (bald patch) on my scalp about the size of a large coin. It happened when I was a baby when I was burnt with a cigarette. I've had 2 operations on it to try and remove the skin and stitch the hairlines together but the didn't work and I was told by a surgeon that any attempt to try it again could make the scar bigger. I know it may sound vain and stupid but this is something that as plagued my life and I feel so self concious about it. I think the only other method open to me now is a hair transplant, if possible, but I have nowhere near enough money to go private. Would the NHS fund it? Afterall some women can get breast implants on the NHS is their cheat is too small and it plagues their lives so isn't it the same sort of thing? Thank you.

  • My daughter has a hollow dip in the middle of her chest. What could this be?

Hi, My daughter has a hollow dip in the middle of her chest between her nipples. She's had it from birth and my health visitor and doctor have shown concern and told me to keep an eye on it but won't tell me what the problem could be. I'm starting to worry as it's showing no signs of improvement. Can anyone shed light on what this could be and the implications/complications she may face as she gewts older? As much or as little information as anyone an offer will be grateful. Thanks.

  • Can you dye red velvet curtains black?

Not real velvet but has that rough fuzzy feel that velvet has. I can really afford new curtain and as my lounge is getting redecorated I would like the curtains to match. Plus I'm quite fond of them anyway

  • What are my rights as a non Muslim?

Recently I was told about free gym usage for women only that is paid for by the local authority as part of a 'get fit' scheme. When I went to sign up I was told that the information was correct but that the gym was only funded for use for Muslim women, and that as a white British female, I was required to pay.

Council tax payers are funding this and I feel it's unfair to discriminate against me because of my nationality, especially in my own country!

What are my rights and what can I say to my local council to make them treat me fairly?

I'm so annoyed at this and would love to argue till the cows come home but I have no idea what I would say and what parliament 'acts' to quote to them to to get my point across and render them speechless.

    Thanks.

I'm doing a personal study on human emotion and the effects of little things versus big things and the emotional side effects. Do little things/jestures/words cause more powerful emotions then say winning the lottery?

What has been the most surprisingly emotional moment for you?
