  • Do animal rescue workers earn a decent living?

I'd love to change my work field from commercial construction to animal rescue or similar type of job. The thing is. I really can't afford to earn less money. My base pay 80K/year working construction. Are there any jobs working with animals that pay around the same, that are in demand?

The typical consult takes an hour. Maybe a condo takes 30-45 minutes. Plus our drive time. If you contract with us, the $10 is applied towards the bill. I had a client who was 45 minutes away, demanding a free estimate. I won't do a free estimate if you are across the street. She told me "I probably will never get any business with my attitude". Funny, in the slow winter months I still work 40 hours per week, so does my helper. Working 60+ hours per week, I am already booked solid April, May and half of June. I pay myself $25 per hour, so a slow week means $1,000 for me. I pay my helper $15 per hour. $600 is a slow week for him. If I can find a kid for $12.50 per hour for the busy season, I am lucky. Most are losers. So exactly how is this lady who hung up in anger just now, so sure I will get no work at all? Are you this kind of client too? She called from a town where the median family income is somewhat over $100k per year. I can only assume she is cheap, not poor. Thanks.

I used to get a very good salary but no work from home and my manager used to constantly give negative comments to me even though I was doing twice as much work. The work load also increased and scarcastic comments too so I got frustrated and resigned saying that I need a break. I thought I'll stay home for sometime and learn the latest technology because I'm a quick learner and then find a better job but after 1 week my husband is constantly nagging me saying that I shouldn't have left such a high paying job and I won't get this much salary from any other company now coz my salary was increased there after 4 years of work there. So now I feel that I took a bad decision and think that I should apologize to manager and ask him if I can come back but he has already found a replacement for me and he is very angry. It's a lady who used to work before me. She just worked 1 year and left the job but I worked there for 5 years. I was thinking, if he calls me back then he'll torture me more and he'll compare me with that other lady. Also after the lady will get up to the speed then he can fire me even in 2 weeks or few months. So will it be good to go back or concentrate on learning new technology and then finding a new job? I know I may have to wait from 3 months upto an year till I get a job. By the way I have a 2 year old baby too. I wasn't getting any time to study with baby so that's why I thought that I can resign and learn quickly at home. Please help. Thanks in advance.

  • Is it wrong to ALWAYS show up at work on my days off just to see a particular coworker?

For several months, I would go in on my days off once a week (sometimes twice weekly) just to see that person. I would also stay at work for up to an hour or two after my shift ended just because she was still working. Is that normal?

Best answer: I racked up a $800 bill once. Only tipped $10

Times are tough. You can’t just give money away.

So this is my first official job. I’ve had a summer job before, it was okay I had to watch kids. But this job is at a department store as an LP (loss prevention), it’s kind of like a security guard. On my first day it was okay, but the things that were being told to me scared me. I don’t really like the job because I’m an introverted person who does not like confrontation. This job involves confrontation. And there’s a lot of other things that I also didn’t expect to be doing. I’ve been really stressed because of it and I’m really dreading working tomorrow. Like I literally feel like I want to quit or maybe ask for a different position in the company because I don’t feel comfortable with this position and I feel like it’s not a good fit for me. Some people are saying to me it’s your first job so give it a chance but I really feel like quitting. If I don’t quit on the first day I’ll quit after two weeks or a month. I mean this is really stressing me out. PLEASE HELP!
