He's something of a protector, a mentor, warning us about the dangers of fire and insisting that we respect nature. He also has been shown as protecting children, and coming down to warn humans of impending danger, much like the Mothman. At the very least, if he is not a Cryptid, is he some sort of Yokai or demon?

Best answer: When I was a child, an elderly aquaintence died. A few days later, I was walking down the street in broad daylight when I saw him walking towards me. I was totally shocked and confused, but kept walking towards him. As I passed him, I turned to look at him in surprise, and he looked at me equally surprised. We passed each other and walked on.

I cannot prove this actually happened. It is not a repeatable experiment.

Memories are unreliable. We rewrite them every time we recall them.

Maybe I dreamed the whole thing.

Maybe I hallucinated because I was grieving. I liked the guy, but we weren't particularly close. Maybe he was just on my mind. I could not, hand on my heart, say that I was entirely sane and rational during my childhood. I don't think many people can. Childhood is a time when imagination, play and make believe run riot.

I believe that life stops when the heart, breathing and brain stops, our bodies decay or become food for other animals, we return to the natural cycles and that's it. I don't believe in souls or life after death, it seems to be a way that people cope with grief.

I don't know what I did or did not see back then.
