To answer your second question, no, they cannot be used together. They both use different technologies. NVIDIAs can be paired with NVIDIAs, AMD can be paired with AMD. But there is no mix n' match in the graphics market.

Just recently I've waited more than 10 minutes and its not recognised at all on mac. the pc recognises it but not mac. my MacBook is fairly new with no faults. its macbook pro i5, 8gb ram early 2015 model. Is this normal for a slow load time on an external hard drive on mac? I will upgrade to a thunderbolt external hard drive if it load quicker, but will it and shouldn't my current one?

Any suggestions? Thank you!

But after a while, regularly adding new files because I didn't have space on my laptop, it stopped working! It stopped lighting up when I plugged it in, and just wouldn't start up at all. I know because it used to be pretty loud, and now there was no sound at all. Is it completely doomed? It would be a shame to lose so many great memories. Thanks for any and all help!

So, is the card suitable for me? Sorry for the English it's not my native language.

Best answer: Device manager may or may not recognize the cards until you install the Drivers.

I installed an MSI Gaming X RX 580 8gb card into one of my mining rigs, that I was swapping for anR9 390x. Device Manager did not recognize the card until I Installed the drivers.

I tried the Adrenaline driver in Compute mode but it didn’t perform as well as the Blockchain driver that I had been using. The cards will probably hash at 22-23mh/s a piece unless Samsung made the GDDR5 memory IC.

You can get the hashrates to 29 or more if you flash the BIOS on the cards. If you do decide to flash, make sure you back up the factory BIOS of each card to a thumb-drive in case the flash goes wrong.

Since you are mining, you can also opt to use Ubuntu or Xubuntu. Windows 10 seems to be better for Nvidia cards.

PCI-E x16 slots have trouble with x1 risers. You need high quality risers for those slots. In the top slot of my board, I have to use a x16 riser in order to get the card to hash right. Too finicky

I have a fairly high end flash drive (Kingston HyperX Savage) , in benchmarking it can do 300 MB/s read and about 200 MB/s write, but I also have a litany of far cheaper USB 3.0 flash drives (PNY Tubros, Sandisk Ultrafit, etc.) and they typically produce 90 MB/S read, and 60-75 MB/s write in the same benchmarks. The only time you're likely to see anything close to 625 MB/S is if you were to put an SSD in an enclosure and then run some synthetic benchmarks. In the real world, copying hundreds of actual files of varying type and sizes, you're never going to come close to reaching the actual theoretical limit.

I'd like to be able to restore a computer, should the hard drive fail (has happened to me 3 times in 18 years). I think I could do this via a mirror of the current hard drive; and I could keep that on an external hard drive (my "vault") until needed. I have multiple computers, so I'd like to have multiple mirrors. Could these be maintained on the same "vault"? I suspect they could, within different partitions. But could they also be maintained in separate folders, or does it need to be separate partitions? And... is there another way to do same thing besides a mirror? I've never used a restore disk (because I've never done a good job of planning ahead). Would this work as well? And if so, could I store multiple "restore disks" on an external hard drive, same questions about the partitioning. thanks for your help and regards

Best answer: The problem you describe is generally called "cable-borne noise" or "mechanical cable noise", and is due to the lack of an isolation loop.

Disconnect the 3.5mm plug.  If the cable is routed through the beams of the stand, extricate the cable from the assembly.

Use electrical tape to affix the cable to one side (not the bottom) of the lower beam, 2 or 3 cm (about an inch) from the bolt.  Be sure to leave enough slack to allow changing the microphone angle, without the cable and pop filter gooseneck touching.

Make a 4 inch minimum diameter loop, and affix the other end to the other side of the beam and about 5cm (a couple of inches) farther back.  No parts of the loop should touch.

If you like, you may route the remaining cable through the descending beam.

When I make isolation loops, I often wrap a bit of plastic foam (not bubble wrap), about 3mm (1/8 inch) thick, around the cable areas taped to the mechanism.  Foam with adhesive on one side to adhere to the cable is best.
