They weren't at war with the Empire of Japan, which they regarded as a separate dispute, since the Japanese had declared war on USA and the British Empire but not on them. Understandably they did not want to make the mistake Germany had of fighting a war on two fronts. One of the reasons the USA dropped the bombs was to end the war before Russia got involved which Stalin had said would be 90 days after the defeat of Nazi Germany.

Best answer: First and foremost, execution was the recognised punishment, in those days, for really serious crimes. Nowadays, we are more 'enlightened', and we believe that the taking of a life, for a criminal act, is not what a civilised society does. The people of Charles I's time believed that they were civilised, according to their own standards, and they thought that a criminal should be treated harshly. Charles I was not universally popular before his execution, but, as is the case even nowadays, as soon as he was dead, he was regarded - by some people - as having been almost a saint. I don't believe that Charles was happy to go to the scaffold while thinking 'well, I have sent others to the same fate, so I suppose that I deserve to be executed'. Charles was the victim of his own mistakes, and he was - no doubt - a nice guy if you took him out of the royal robes. Unfortunately, he made too many mistakes for his own good, and he left himself open to attack from his critics. He was not really cut out to be a king, but fate had thrust him into the role, and he could not escape his fate. He tried to do his best for England, and maybe some sympathisers saw that, but he needed more than sympathy.

Best answer: holocaust denial comes in different catergories.
some simply argue about numbers and methods, they don't deny that Germany had a direct policy of extermination.
others do,they won't accept that the Nazi Reich sought to wipe out European jewry (amongst other groups) and will bang on forever and ever that's it's all a 'jewish lie'. - this is quite obviously anti-Semitism plain and simple.
then you get the neo-nazis who quite frankly I wouldn't waste valuable oxygen debating with,if brains was dynamite these people wouldn't have enough to blow their hats off.
deniers use laughably bad pseudo-history to back up their arguments, they have quite literally zero evidence to support their claims and will frequently make things up.
I have read some of their literature and much of it is make-believe,for every set of statistics they produce you can guarantee than most of it is totally fictional.
we know it happened because we have the evidence, quite a lot of it Nazi records.we have eyewitness testimony, both victims and perpetrators, and we have the camps found by the liberating forces.
once france had been freed from Nazi domination the allies started to find things, the Russians coming from the east found death camps.
death factories were uncovered by brits, the americans and the Russians.are you suggesting they're ALL lying ?.
all across Europe there are certain locations were huge massacres took place,if you're going to try and argue it didn't happen then you better have some pretty convincing evidence.
    we're still waiting.

Best answer: Most of the persons missed the point - British Empire, not Britain alone.
USSR never tested its own resource base that is humongous. The war gave that opportunity. All this talk of an inefficient system is poppycock. It is the same inefficient USSR that took the brunt of German attacks on the chin & paid it back. It is a matter of survival & giving it back. They did both & efficiently, because of the regimentation & totalitarian discipline. Actually USSR following the pact with Germany fell in a bemused reverie in a false sense of security till Germany mounted the blitzkrieg that broke its slumber. His element of surprise well spent, Hitler was on upswing, while USSR took some time(a lesser power would've capitulated like in Western Europe) to come to senses. It took its own time in Stalingrad counterattack, where the siege lasted 872 days - a big & powerful USSR only could absorb it.
Always when Britain fought, it was the Empire that bailed it out & was its real strength - dominions & colonies chipped in equally well.
Germany had no matching resource base to last out the full stretch of a high-intensity, six-year war. Its attempt to grab USSR didn't work at all as USSR wasn't a sitting duck.Italy had even less as its Empire (Libya & Somalia) wasn't up to the mark to be help in a war.
USA (another humongous resource base; seemingly unlimited) joining in, only hastened the positive outcome of the war. It is interesting (& surprising) that actually USA thrives on a war. May be at an optimum resource utilisation, war actually improves the economy. Lesser countries find it hard, lose (resource) stamina & can't last.
The most uninteresting aspect is the French capitulation, rather too soon that in spite of its rather extensive Empire (though nowhere near that of the British).
A joke or comment is in order here -- ""The last time the French asked for 'more proof' it came marching into Paris under a German flag." -- --David Letterman
French colonial constituents-possessions across the Globe were confused & left in the lurch. If there is, it is not the way how an Empire should be run. The enemy took full advantage, as well as local freedom fighters in some colonies. The enemy took full advantage of France's geography to mount the naval war effort (Cherbourg was the principal submarine base in the North Atlantic naval warfare & convoy-chasing that would not be possible if France wasn't taken), overcoming Germany's natural naval disadvantages.
