  • Do people with small hands have trouble playing/learning guitar? 🎸?

I'm 17. So my hands are not gonna get any bigger. I'm a girl and I have the smallest hands ever! At least smaller than anyone I've met. I recently started learning guitar. The teacher said it will take practice but IDK.. I feel like my fingers of the left hand can't reach where they should be reaching bc they are too small. I tried for 2 days and I just can't seem to hold the guitar properly..

  • I want to teach myself to play acoustic guitar. Where should I start? I've heard about reading beginner books, youtube, some websites.?

Also what are some things I should really look out for? I heard I need to know how to tune my guitar, I need a guitar with the right neck size for me, I'll need extra strings, and all kinds of things. Now I'm a bit confused with what I'll actually need. And no I can't get lessons I have to teach myself. show more

  • I want to begin playing the electric guitar. What will I need to start off with other than the guitar itself if I plan to play by myself?

I was told I could use headphones to listen to music I make and people mentioned a lot of different things such as female to male, amps, male-male, tuners, extra strings, cords and straps, and effects, and now I'm not sure what I'll need at all

  • Why do people say that in heavy metal, the pickups and amp are more important then the wood of the guitar?

Best answer: Because it's true! In terms of sound the amplifier, and how it's set up is the most important factor. Then, a long way behind come the pickups. The wood that the guitar is made from has only a very subtle effect on the sound and with the kind of extreme distortion used in heavy metal, just about no effect... show more

Of course, the thing that has the most effect on the sound of the guitar is the player.

The difference is that Steel string guitars have strings that are bronze wrapped around steel. Nylon string guitars have string that are bronze wrapped around nylon. (it should be noted that many nylon string brands use a silver bronze wrap on nylon strings.) YOU CANNOT USE STEEL STRINGS OF ANY KIND ON A NYLON STRING GUITAR! THIS CAN SEVERELY DAMAGE THE INSTRUMENT! If you are unsure if your guitar is a nylon string or a steel string guitar then take it to your local music store and let them help you.

  • Are extra light strings easier to learn (acoustic guitar) on than light strings?

Best answer: They're slightly easier to play but you pay a price with tone and volume. I'd recommend sticking with light gauge strings. High action can be a killer, especially for beginners.

so ive been having a crisis for a few months over whether or not i should ask my band director if i can join marching. as of now im in 6th grade band. i go to a small school so 8th graders are typically allowed in but like i said, im only in 6th. if i asked to join now i would go to band camp this summer and be in marching band when im in 7th grade. my love for band is through the roof and not to toot my own horn but i know i can handle the challenges marching band has to offer. my only problem is being so much younger. i wouldnt be hurt if my band director said no because thats very understandable but i also dont want to ask because that might make me seem full of myself. i know thats a silly thing to be worried about but im going through that phase right now and i worry alot about what other people think(especially my band director because im stuck with him for the next 6 years of my life lmao) i just want to know what other people think about me asking but anything regarding the topic would be helpful! thanks!
