Best answer: let's face it, most DIY guys have something they aren't too swift at. [For me, it's plumbing.]

day in, and day out, while doing repairs and improvements the tools I use most are my hammers, level, power saw, multimeter, and power drill/driver with assorted bits. Next up -- pliers.

Of course, I have several varieties of each of these -- three or four hammers, two levels, four different saws, and three or four different kinds of bits. Maybe a dozen different pliers.

I've "organized" my tools into separate boxes -- one for electrical, one for plumbing, one for picture hanging, etc. I actually have seven or eight boxes in all [one has just my SawZall in it]. And two big boxes of painting stuff. Another with only light bulbs and electrical parts. Three more with lawn sprinkler materials and plumbing bits.

Wife [of course] is long resigned to me having all this stuff around. Sure comes in handy though when the toilet starts leaking .... or something else goes kerflueey

But since you're asking the question I'm going to come down on the side of Kitchenaid, reliability ratings notwithstanding. I'm a handyman so fixing an appliance is nothing to me. They're all pretty easy. And I have several Kitchenaid overarm mixers, easily the best small appliance I have ever owned.

  • Doorknob too big to remove screws?

Hello so my inside doorknob recently stopped working and all it does is spin whenever I try to open the door. The thing is the doorknob is too big to unscrew the screws holding the doorknob in. I've already tried prying off the doorknob but it hasn't worked. It was working just until about 2 days ago.

She keeps her bathroom a mess, it stinks(I can even smell it from my room), it’s messy, hasn’t been cleaned in a VERY VERY long time. It’s disgusting. She won’t clean it and I feel like I could get sick from it. My parents won’t do anything. They won’t clean it and they don’t tell her to clean it. Im worried for my health. I’m horrified of going in there, but sometimes I just can’t make it to the upstairs bathroom. What do I do?

    Hope this helps!

Planted new grass and I look up, she's there asking what am I doing? Duh! Planting grass seed. Guess what-the next day she is and even got lawn care. Planted new bushes and flowers. She does the same. You get the idea. I could go on and on. There's a lot more. She always asks where I bought things if I got something new. OK-the thing is that now I truthfully find it annoying- like a tick I want to pluck off me. A parasite!! Why in the world do people act like this and they aren't even embarrassed about it? I would be. I would think others would thing I'm a moron with no brain of my own. Ideas-have you experienced this?

Best answer: the real estate agent is suggesting you paint your walls for 2 main reasons,
    1) dark and bold colors can make a room seem smaller and neutral colors can make it feel larger.
    2) because they think future buyers wont like dark & bold colors when looking for a house and that having neutral colors throughout your house will help potential buyers envision their things in the house easier.
while this can be true its not always the case, most good homebuyers know a wall can be easily painted and are looking for more important features in your house then paint colors on the wall. but it may help for some.

I would suggest re-painting the burgundy wall in the one room, and the multi-color room and leaving the rest.
when picking a color pick something neutral & light, but that also matches with the carpet & trim work of the room.
I suggest using a good quality white primer over the dark colors then after that dries completely do the final finished colors.

as for the gloss, semi-gloss, satin, flat: choices. it comes down to easy of cleaning & wiping down the walls.
gloss is the easiest to clean & flat almost impossible.
kitchens should use gloss for easy of cleaning. hallways and kids rooms semi-gloss(still easy to clean, but not as shiny) then I personally prefer the satin for any areas you don't have to worry about dirty fingerprints leaving smudges on the walls.

listen to the real estate agent to a point, just remember they want the house as great as possible and don't care what it will cost you in time and material, they only care about the finished product looks like. I've seen real-estate agents suggest hugely expensive changes to make something look a tiny bit better that don't really add any value. they don't always care about you because any improvements may help them sell easier meaning they get the commission into their bank acct. but the expense to fix it comes out of your bank acct, not theirs.
so don't blindly follow expensive suggestions they make.

Well it's been turning on and off every few minutes so i thought the heater was going out, so I switched it with the heater I have for my living room but it's still doing it which tells me the outlet itself is going in and out. The rest of my power is still fine and the switch on the breaker is still in the right position.. What causes this? I don't have money for an electrician hints why I'm using space heaters and not getting my furnace fixed. :(

Still not being able to get it to fire I tried rebuilding the carb but it still wasn't firing, so I bought a carb off amazon I know they aren't the best quality but it wasn't 200 bucks. With that on I have gotten it to fire a few times but not running which is progress but I'm getting gas out of the carb. Does it just need adjusting or do I have a faulty carb?

The cheapes I can find is £20 and i just dont have that spare right now. My window looks a mess as i've had to stick paper up. I have old bedsheets, the window is next to the oven though so i cannot have anything hanging and flapping around near the oven or hobs.
