I currently use a laptop with a 1TB SATA HDD, and have been noticing lots of speed defects with the laptop, along with a couple other issues that have led me to decide to go purchase a new laptop. I have my eye on one that has a PCIe NVMe SSD. Upon looking it up on Google, this tends to be the better option when looking for speed while sacrificing storage (I prefer speed over storage space as I don’t need much storage). Now, excluding the storage size and speed of the drive itself, what other things would I expect from using an SSD instead of a HDD? Will updates, Windows, and most apps all work the same way? Like, Microsoft Excel - there’s a difference between Windows and Macintosh, but there shouldn’t be a difference between a Windows HDD and a Windows SSD, correct? Last question: what do you prefer? Thanks in advance

I purchased a computer that sound card sucks.... I'm not sure if the card is built into the motherboard or not... Would an external sound card solve the issue?

All other drives are unplugged so I already did that the sector is 4K on this one and my HDD is 512 so I can’t clone it. Whenever I am selecting a Drive to install windows on I select it and it says it cannot install on it because it cannot be partitioned. When I create a partition it says it cannot be installed because the system may not have access to it. I already changed the bios to ahci so I know that’s not the issue I’ve seen countless of YouTube videos and non have solved my problem. The drive can be read by my computer and I know it’s not doa. Anything helps thanks!

  • Does anyone know how I can remove this continuous message from my laptop?

Does anyone know how I can remove this continuous message from my laptop?

It pops up every single time I turn my laptop on and it's very annoying. I have tried to remove multiple programs to make it leave, but it just won't. What do I do? I have had it with that message. I get it that Acer Portal services have already been discontinued. ugh..

My questions are: I thought I'd visit you toob to learn how to remove the old hard drive. It seems like its probably a delicate procedure- are there any common pitfalls or rules of thumb for that job? It seems like there are different kinds and sizes of caddy- how do I determine what kind of caddy I need for my old hard drive? Should I remove the hard drive first and then get the caddy, or visa versa (if it matters)? After I have the hard drive out of the old laptop do I need to store it in a certain way? Is there usually software needed for the caddy to "run" or "read" the extracted hard drive, or is it pretty much a File Explorer cut/paste operation?

  • Do I record to HDD or SSD?

Using a screen recorder constantly writes data (usually about 2.1 MB/s for the one I'm using) to the drive that the videos are stored on. It might not sound like much, but it adds up over time. A mechanical hard drive, on the other hand, is mainly worn out by turning on and off and writing data doesn't affect it as much as it would with an SSD. And since the amount of data being written at once isn't that much, any modern SSD or HDD would easily be able to handle it without a noticeable impact on performance.
