• What's the legal risk for not paying illegal workers who stand in front of Home Depot?

At most you'd have to write them a check....which you were willing to do. The only reason they would have to have cash is if they weren't legal. That makes suing you problematic if they... show more

I am 7 months pregnant and have a toddler with my husband, I won t get to much into why I want a divorce but it has been a number of things he has done to cause the marriage breakdown including physical violence. I can t be bothered with a divorce battle because of my children so want to make a agreement with him. He will be paying child maintenance but I also have asked for a lump sum of his money (it s inherited from his dad) he has £80000 and will also have a lot more inheritance coming in the future (will be after we are divorced). I want to ask for £30000 but don t know if it s fair, I will have to pay rent etc on a property and won t be able to work until my child yet to be born is 2. Any views on what amount I should get?

All the modern toilets have a maximum of 1.6 gallons per flush, and some flush better than others. But none of them flush as well as the old 3.5 gallon per flush toilets that existed pre-1991. Saves water you say? I say flushing multiple times and having to clean the bowl more often saves no water, and water is the most renewable resource we have, so no hippies will find a forum here with me. Anyway, you can find the old 3.5 gallon toilets on ebay from time to time, and expect to pay $500 plus for one in good condition. But I recently stayed a night in a motel due to fumes when my house was being painted, and the motel had a 1990 (year stamped inside toilet tank) American Standard 3.5 gallon toilet that was like new. Well I know how to change out toilets, so suppose I got a room there again, after taking out my toilet at home. I take out the toilet at the motel, put mine in, and take the 3.5 gallon toilet home. Could I get away with this, or would I likely be receiving a call from the motel? Afterall, what are the odds the maid is going to walk in, notice a different toilet there, and then go running frantically to the property manager and say "ZOMG SOMEONE STOLE THE TOILET IN ROOM 26 AND PUT A NEW ONE IN!?" Would you say it's more likely that the maid either won't notice, or will simply assaume that management had it replaced? Could this work?

America was founded on slavery so racism was rampant. Fast forward to the Civil War. The north thought slavery was too much but the whole country was still racist by considering blacks inferior. Even Lincoln was a racist ...

"Our republican system was meant for a homogeneous people. As long as blacks continue to live with the whites they constitute a threat to the national life. Family life may also collapse and the increase of mixed breed bastards may some day challenge the supremacy of the white man." ... -Lincoln.

Thus, the political affiliation of the KKK charter members was of little significance as racism was pervasive countrywide. Racism didn't become a political party issue until enough outrage in the mid 1950s made civil rights a political priority.

Battle lines were drawn and came to a head in 1964. LBJ signed the civil rights bill while famously saying the dems have lost the south for the next generation. The reps nominated Goldwater who was against civil rights. MANY Americans swapped parties over this highly charged issue, Strom Thurmond is symbolic of the transition

"Thurmond switched parties because of his opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Act, disaffection with the liberalism of the national party, and his support for the conservatism of the Republican presidential candidate Senator Barry Goldwater."

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strom_Thur...

Martin Luther King was aware of the transitioning ethos. In his autobiography he stated the following about the republicans at their convention in 1964 ...

"The Republican Party geared its appeal and program to racism, reaction, and extremism. All people of goodwill viewed with alarm and concern the frenzied wedding at the Cow Palace of the KKK with the radical right."

This led to the southern strategy embraced by Nixon ...

"In American politics, southern strategy refers to methods the Republican Party used to gain political support in the South by appealing to the racism against African Americans harbored by many southern white voters."

I have way too much more evidence of right wing racism to itemize here but, you are correct, the righties have the lion's share of racists.

The right wing tends to be authoritarian. The more extreme one gets, the more superior they feel. Thus, they use their superiority complex to contrast from and oppress those they consider inferior. Notice how the righties have no problem throwing a group of people (Muslims for example) on the same bus of oppression dismissive of the innocent people they persecute.
