Australia has retained its No.1 ranking on the latest ICC Test Championship table after the annual update, but South Africa will move to the top if the Aussies fail to win both of the remaining Ashes Tests.
If Australia loses the series, it will drop to fourth place with Sri Lanka and India both overtaking them, while if the series ends in a draw Australia will cling on to second place by a decimal point.
Regardless of the result, England will remain in fifth place ahead of Pakistan, New Zealand, West Indies and Bangladesh.
