The "Putra Kameshti Yagnya" is much old Ygnya dscribed in holy scriptures of Hinduism. It was done by the King Dasharatha the father of Lord Rama after which he could procreate four sons viz. Rama, Laxmana, Bharata, & Shatrughna through his four Queens. This type of Ygnya is not quite impossible in these days also, and not much costly also. If you will please visit the ancient cities like Tryambakeshwar, Nashik, Ujjain, Varanasi, there you will find the preasts who are competent engough to perform such type of Ygnya. I am having a marathi book, in which the simple way of performing this type of yagnya is described. The title of this book is "Shastra Ase Sangate" compiled and published by Mrs.Mrinalini Deshapande, Vedwani Publications, Phulewadi, Kolhapur - 416010 (Maharashtra), Phone Nos. 0231-2622745, website address:- www.vedwani.com, www.phadkebooks.com, e-mail:- vedwani@hotmail.com. Therefore, go ahead & best luck. Having procreated no sons, and only daughters is considered to be lacuna in our Hindu way of thinking. Such types anomalies of fate are wiped out by performing such type of Ygnya. But nobody can be sure of the results after performing such Yagnas. There are other ways of having a male child developed by latest scientific developments. But the doctors who practice such new way of science also do not vouch for the definite results. I have put both options before you.

Putrakameshti is a special Yajna performed in Hinduism for the sake of having a child. It is a kaamya-karma.
In the Ramayana, upon the recommendation of Sage Vashishta, King Dasharatha of Ayodhya performed the Putrakameshti Yajna under the supervision of Rishishringa Muni, who was an expert in Yagur Veda, which has the guidelines for this prayer. After its successful completion, the Lord of Fire, Agnidev appeared and gave a bowl of sweet to the King of Ayodhya, which was provided to his three queens in order to promulgate his sons Sri Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna.

    Jai Shree Ram!!!!!

Putra Kameshti Yajna is performed as indicated in the name itself to get a male child. This Yajna is not performed for doshas like Pitru Dosha. This is performed when you do not have a child in your fate or if some one wants a divine child. For this you need a very learned Vedic priest. There must be such priest to perform it but it is not so easy because to perform this yajna one has to take Yajna Diksha and with it there will be many disciplines to be observed.

This Yajna should be performed on the bak of a holy river.

According to me in Kaliyuga, one should take support from Mantra Shastra and Blessings of One's Guru for this purpose.

Puthra = Son; Kaamesti = desire for; Yagam = a Sacrifice.

A Sacrifice performed with the desire to beget a son.

It is a yagna performed with an intention to get Son. It has nothing to do any dosham etc of this birth or previous birth.
