Is psychosis the only reasonable basis for grievance?

'FREEDOM IS NOT FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is great. I have been wondering about why Whites are racists, and no other race is......

Proud to be White

Michael Richards makes his point..............

Michael Richards better known as Kramer from TVs Seinfeld does make a good point.

This was his defense speech in court after making racial comments in his comedy act. He makes some very interesting points...

Someone finally said it.. How many are actually paying attention to this? There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, etc..

And then there are just Americans. You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction. You call me 'White boy,' 'Cracker,' 'Honkey,' 'Whitey,' 'Caveman'... and that's OK.

But when I call you, ******, Kike, Towel head, Sand-******, Camel Jockey, Beaner, ****, or Chink .. You call me a racist.

You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you... so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?

You have the United ***** College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day.

You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day.

You have Yom Hashoah. You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.

You have the NAACP. You have BET... If we had WET (White Entertainment Television), we'd be racists.. If we had a White Pride Day, you would call us racists.

If we had White History Month, we'd be racists.

If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance' OUR lives, we'd be racists.

We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce. Wonder who pays for that??

A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant, but any color can be in the Miss America pageant.

If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships.. You know we'd be racists.

There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US . Yet if there were 'White colleges', that would be a racist college.

In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists..

You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

I am proud.... But you call me a racist.

Why is it that only whites can be racists??

There is nothing improper about this e-mail.. Let's see which of you are proud enough to send it on. I sadly don't think many will. That's why we have LOST most of OUR RIGHTS in this country. We won't stand up for ourselves!

It's not a crime YET... but getting very close!

It is estimated that ONLY 5% of those reaching this point in this e-mail, will pass it on. '

From an e-mail forwarded to me.

Your views reflect my own TeamHans. Perhaps my question is a little tricked up. The body of what follows is a quotation. The question was used for the purpose of bringing into subjection the concept of psychosis and the detail from Eric Erickson was to entertain that concept with the facts of human sociology.

Your personal perspective is well received.

Update 2:

'If anything it is a monocultural vacuum which consumes and destroys the world it touches. If you as a white person want to be proud of your cultural heritage do it as a Scot, a Brit, a German, a Sorb, a Vandal - whatever your ancestry truly is.'

By definition any race can be racist, as racism is simply discrimination or prejudice based on race. It does often seem, however, in popular culture as if only whites can be racist. To be honest, I've had many of the same thoughts you have. I believe black history month, black colleges, and black anything are discriminatory by definition, and therefore racist by definition. I've heard this argument before, but I've never heard an argument against it. The one thing I often do hear, however, is that these things are in place to counter-balance racism against blacks. That is - because there is so much racism against blacks, special circumstances are sometimes necessary to combat that racism. I don't necessarily agree, but I do understand the argument.

As to your point about being proud to be white - I'm white but I'm neither proud nor ashamed of it. It's simply the color of my skin and nothing more. Perhaps it sounds cliche but it's true. I believe if I was born black, or yellow, or polka-dotted that I would be the exact same person. Would my life have been the same? Perhaps not, but I can't sit here and tell you I would have become a different person if the color of my skin was different. I'm incredibly happy with who I am, mostly because I've spent 31 years thinking about and becoming who I am. Hardly ever in that time have I thought "I'm white so...." Funny enough - the only exceptions are the things you mentioned, as in "I'm white so I guess black history month doesn't celebrate me." Here again though - because I'm happy with who I am it doesn't really bother me. I hope this helps and good luck.

'Black' and 'white' are colour labels that were chiefly invented in the last milenia by 'whitish' people mainly under a doctrine of 'Social Darwinism' and 'Unilineal evolution' in an attempt to legitimate 'white' colonisation of the globe. This mythology argues that hunter gatherers were the earliest form of people, then pastoralists and then industrialists and was and is * still used to legitimate the colonisation of the world by industrial nations. The version of it which purported to grade people in terms of skin colour placed Eastern Europeans at the 'top' followed by Southern Europeans, Middle Eastern peoples, East Asians, South Asians, Native Americans (Northern and Southern), Polynesians, Africans, Melanesians, 'Australian' Aborigines, and Tasmanian Aborigines at the very bottom of some gradient of human evolution that was meant to legitimate people higher up the hierarchy exterminating people further down. White people are the ones who started labelling everyone by colour including 'ourselves'. I totally agree that identifying people by colour is problematic - but then this is the inheritance that comes with the stolen continents we now kid ourselves we possess.

Discrimination on the basis of skin colour is a relatively modern phenomenon and is purely subjective. If the most powerful colonizers of the modern world had been Asian and not European, for example, we might have seen the development of a hierarchy for discrimination developed on the basis of straightness of hair for example in which case - Asian and Native Americans may have found themselves at the top of the ladder and Europeans somewhere in the middle or if the curliest hair or darkest skin were help as superior Solomon Islanders would have been held supreme and not Nordic peoples.

White is not a cultural heritage - it's a colour. "OUR" rights, heritage etc did not ultimately derive from our skin colour. What disturbs me most about your thesis is that you appear to be arguing that the skin colour 'white' is a culture. If anything it is a monocultural vacuum which consumes and destroys the world it touches. If you as a white person want to be proud of your cultural heritage do it as a Scot, a Brit, a German, a Sorb, a Vandal - whatever your ancestry truly is. Not as a skin colour. I understand the 'black is beautiful' movement for example as a resistance to white racism. Given the powerful position that white people have taken in the current milenium "Proud to Be White" sounds like a pathetic attempt to legitimate an uninvited and illadvised attempt to whitewash the world. All it does is destroys the diversity in it's path and creates a cultural vacuum upon which no human society can survive for long!

I have finally read the Erikson link and it seems to concur with my opinion of 'whiteness' as a cultural vacuum. Of course modern society has lost much of the formalised initiation stage that existed in most, if not all societies. It seems to be an observation across a number of Indigenous cultures that white people appeared on their shores like ghosts hence the name for ghost sometimes became the word for white people. Have a look at what Kevin Annett says about this subject of white people as ghosts - victims of former acts of genocide who become future oppressors in new lands and then appropriate Indigenous identities in an attempt to define themselves and deny this genocide:

Ummm what does this ought to do with theatre? My own opinion is that there is in basic terms one race...the human race. i do not care what colour you're, what u . s . you come back from or who your ancestors are...finally all of us come from an similar position and all of us bleed an similar colour. some human beings in simple terms opt for to not use their brains. i decide on to stay my life the way i favor to stay it it truly is respecting everybody. I recommend you try doing an similar. you'd be a a lot happier individual and human beings would coach you a touch more beneficial comprehend. you should furnish comprehend with the intention to get it. the in basic terms perfect reality replaced into Freedom isn't loose. you're good. human beings made sacrifices for everybody's freedom in this u . s .. In international wars, civil rights moves or perhaps as we communicate in Iraq and Afganistan. human beings are demise for you. Do you truly imagine you're honoring those human beings? not in basic terms that, in spite of the undeniable fact that the in basic terms actual individuals are those who've grown up on the Indian reserves. they are the actual individuals. something individuals are in simple terms transplants from diverse international locations too.
