Manchester United's nickname?

Manchester United's nickname is the Red Devils right? So why do so many websites keep referring to them as the Reds? Even the official Manchester United website www.manutd.com refers to them as the Reds. Why?

Update:

@Eddie and MR ANFIELD ACES I know Manchester United is the Red Devils and Liverpool is the Reds. You guys just basically repeated what I said in my question.

    We call them the Rags.

No seriously, it's what their own fans called them in the 30's when they were poor. we're just continuing the tradition. ;)

As for Red Devils, they were never called that until Matt Busby decided to call them it. The REAL Red Devils were the Salford City Reds Rugby Club, a fact they stoically hold despite United's attempts to change the perception that they were associated with the term first. http://www.reds.co.uk/original-red-devils

SCRRFC were formed in the mid 19th Century. United were formed at the beginning of the 20th, at which time they were called 'The Heathens' (due to their formation from Newton Heath) They then became known as the Reds around the 20's because of their kit, (a term more associated with Liverpool FC who coined it first) and when they endured their trophyless seasons from 1912-1948 the club became riddled with debt and other financial problems and the club was 'nicknamed' by their fans 'The Rags'.

When Busby took over they were known as the Busby Babes, by Busby himself felt the nickname 'The Reds' wasn't fearful enough. He knew of SCRRFC's Red Devils nickname and chose to have United use the same, also to disassociate the club from the Busby Babes who a good number of the team tragically died in the Munich Air Disaster, which for whatever reason Busby felt was no longer relevant to 'this' United team.

So in fact the term 'The Reds' is more accurate than 'The Red Devils' as it was chosen way back in the 1920's or possibly earlier, unlike 'The Red Devils' which was adopted in 1960's.

"The Red Devils" which was adopted in the early 60s after Sir Matt Busby heard it in reference to the red-shirted Salford rugby league side.
