what is bitonic, monotonic series?

Can anyone tell me what is bitonic series with an example. Also monotonic series

    A bitonic sequence is a sequence with x1>=x2>=x3>=... >=xk <= xk+1 <=... <=xn-1

    where 0<k<n

    for example, 0,2,3,4,5,3,2,0,-1..

    this can be other way also, i.e. first decreasing and then increasing..

    for example, 9,8,7,7,5,6,7,8,10..

    Now you would have understood what monotonic series means..

    monotonic series is a series of continously non-increasing or non-decreasing numbers.

    for example, 1,2,4,4,5,7...

    or 9,7,6,5,5,3,0...
