  • It's because the majority of Christians still think Jesus hasn't returned yet. They overlook passages like these:

"Verily I say to you, There are some standing here, who shall not taste death, till they shall see the Son of man coming in His kingdom." - Matt 16:28

"When you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place." - Matt 24:33-34

"But whenever they persecute you in one city, flee to the next; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man comes." - Matt 10:23

"Jesus said to him, 'If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me!'" - John 21:22

------- Jesus DECLARED the end would be in the 1st Century, and it was. The end of the Jewish AGE under the Old Covenant system of righteousness. From 30-70 AD, both covenants existed side by side, the Old phasing out, the New phasing in. God's plan of redemption was not complete until the Temple was burned to the ground in the destruction of Jerusalem (Roman Jewish War). At this time, God's Presence left the Holy of Holies to indwell human temples. This was His plan from the beginning, and it has all been fulfilled!

The only thing not known by 1st Century believers was the DAY and HOUR of His appearing, which was linked to God''s Judgment upon Jerusalem. They could see the time approaching, but did not know exactly when it would occur (much like a woman's pregnancy.)

Today, we know the DAY because the Jews still commemorate it... it's called the 9th of Av. This was the time of the first destruction in 586 BC, and the second, in AD 70.

I can't wait for the day when the END of the WORLD stuff is over... and every Christian is a preterist (meaning past in fulfillment, not future). 100 years from now people will have a hard time understanding how we thought "soon" could mean 2 millennia. Bible prophecy is ALL fulfilled!... or has Jerusalem not been surrounded by armies yet? Do we really not know our history?

"When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written." - Luke 21:20-22

The Christians did flee to the mountains of Pella in 66 AD. See link for how it all took place.

Although people ignore the signs of the end Jesus taught, they still are concerned because it just may affect them and loosing their lives. No one knows the day or the hour but the Bible does tell us to keep away and put Gods Kingdom first so as to inherit his Kingdom. Just as in the days of Noah they were eating and drinking and took no note until the flood came and all those lost their lives except Noah and 7 others. So too then of this system. www.jw.org,

You dont have to be a part of that destruction.

  • It's getting rather close to 12/21/12 and people either need reassurance that they are dumb for believing everybody is going to die or reassurance that they will die...personally I believe something good will happen. An asteroid hits all the Governments of the world and we would be free of lies.
