Laptop won't boot properly?

When I turn on my laptop the screen lights up but doesn't go to the login menu. The screen is on but just black. This laptop is about a week old, it's an dell inspiron I think it's 6GB with 900GB still left on the HD. Ive worked this a little hard this past week but only installed about 100GB. anyways, Ive tried turning on and off, taking the battery out and just waiting about 7 minutes. Any help is awesome.

    Hello sk8wreck22,

My name is Krishna and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. It's more likely that you have a hard drive failure or an operating system corruption. If the restore partition is intact, you should be able to restore your computer's software back to factory settings without using the operating system disk. You can follow the instructions from http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx...

Please Note: This erases ALL the existing data. This includes files, folders, programs, drivers, E-mails, photos. Hence before performing a restore, back up all personal files.

If that fails, try running the hardware diagnostics and see if it shows any errors. You can follow the instructions from http://dell.to/dU0fpw

Also, If you want to email me your service tag, I will have a look at your warranty status to see what options we have. You can reach me at Krishna_KRN@Dell.com

    Regards,

    Dell-Kris K

If it is a week old - it should NOT be doing that.

Contact Dell - just in case they need to repair or replace it under warranty.

Take it back from where you bought it. It seems like an hardware failure.
