Why is the president of India is called first citizen?

    President is called as the first citizen of India because he/ she represents our country and he/she is the Executive head of our nation and all the executive actions are taken in his name.

    All the treaties or international agreements are carried out by his/her name and all diplomatic relations are maintained by his name

    President represents the whole country means all citizens of the country.So President is the first citizen of the country.

    in aaj tak survey 48.7% indians don't know their president name. for last 3 weeks there are no news regarding president's travel and action.
