Yes! Saint Nicholas was bishop of Myra, now called Demre which is in Turkey.
He used to give gifts to the poor in his diocese in secret. He was Greek and his saint's day is 6th December, the day of is death in 343 AD/CE.
The person some people call Father Christmas/Santa Claus, stems from a pagan figure known as Father Winter. He appeared around the winter solstice, (in the northern hemisphere) to reassure the people that the sun would return. Hence the flying reindeer.
You may not be aware of this, but in the 'Holy Land' there aren't too many reindeer around, flying or on the ground.
