Isn't atheism a lack of insight, a lack of wisdom? Does it have any purpose at all? No constructive one anyway. Is it not like similar to destructiveness. In case some creatures could talk, I am talking about the creatures from the deep they might be sure there is nothing but darkness around them! How to explain to them there is also a sun and light far away above them?

    To destroy Christianity.

Atheism is not a religion, not a belief not a club, not a church not a business, and we just do not accept that god(s) exist. We do not proselytize, and do not bother people as religionists do. We live a life of reality and actuality.

The concept of Atheism allows a person to be their own God.

@ Smartassawhip The concept of Atheism allows people to use their own free will.
You misunderstand just what atheism is. A-theism. It is against the very idea of Gods,
so no atheist can be their own or indeed anyone else's God.

There is no purpose to atheism, just as there is no purpose to monotheism or polytheism. When you ask about purpose, you assume something exists that has a mind, a brain. The universe has no brain, and therefore can't form a purpose, and can't form any thought at all. It is the same with gods. They don't exist so they can't form any thoughts or purposes.

Brother Tucker: prove the universe has a brain.
The purpose of religion is to justify itself or, more correctly, since religion is inanimate, that is the purpose of those who have got religion.
Elsie is right that atheism has no purpose. It is just what we call people who don't believe gods are real

Atheism itself serves no good purpose. It prevents people from thinking about God and finding out for themselves.

However, atheists can do useful things like pointing out scriptures that contradict the Trinity.

    To accept the depressing reality:

    You are alone.

    You have always been alone.

    You will always be alone.

    You will die alone.

Your story will be forgotten in the void.

    You're already dead.

Alone only in the sense of standing on one's own two feet and taking personal responsibility without blaming gods or devils.
Never alone in the common cause of morality.
Not dead yet, but I will be and none of this will matter any more.

What is the purpose in believing there isn't a giraffe in your closet? Atheism isn't about purpose, it is a simple statement saying a person doesn't believe in a god or gods.

Point is Jeremy brought up the giraffe. Hows it doing anyway? Not to worry, a lot of my atheist friends have invisible friends.
