How long should i cook chicken thighs for in the oven?

i think last time i done them at gas mark 5 for 50 mins but the internet is telling me 30 mins

Till it hits a temperature of 165 degrees. No less.
Keep in mind that internet recipes assume your stove is perfectly calibrated. Most stoves are not.

A meat thermometer is the only way to know for sure. I bake my leg pieces for an hour, at least.

I cook chicken leg quarters for an hour at 400 deg. covered with foil. I will remove the foil the last ten ninutes for browning. You may not need to go as long or as high, but you want to make sure you have no red left around the bone. When you can, pour out the broth/drippings into a cup. Set it in thr fridge overnight. In the morning, you can scrape off the white fat layer on top and save for making candles or soap, or toss. Save the brown gel underneath, as it is pure flavor heaven. You can wrap in plastic wrap and freeze. These little flavor hockey pucks are pure chicken bone broth and you can flavor soups, other dishes, and make gravy with them for your next chicken dinner. Great over mashed potatoes. And a great additive to the water you are boiling your potatoes in for a flavor boost.

the best thing to do is to use a meat thermometer and test them at 30 minutes. 165 Degrees F(roughly 74 degrees C) and they will be safely done. If they are lower than that temp, cook a bit longer. Over cooking chicken only gets you dry chewy chicken.
The timing depends a great deal on how big the thighs are and if you pounded them to flatten, etc.

Get an instant read thermometer. They are cheap and necessary. It could take up to an hour if your oven is not calibrated. Cook things until they're done, not according to the clock. You should be able to look and smell that they are done.
