What does it mean when someone asks you what you shoot golf? Is that your handicap?

They asking you what you normally score. You would take all the rounds you have played, add all the scores together then divide them by the number of times you played and that would give you your average score. A handicap is a different thing done differently by different clubs and countries.

Yes, it means how much under or over par you completed a round of golf. This determines your handicap but only after completing three rounds with a handicapper observing.

Say you shoot 86 three times on a par 72 course, your would play off of a handicap of 14....its to determine your score against better or worse players in competition golf.

  • Your score, or how many strokes it took you to complete your round.
