What happens when you don't already wear glasses and fail the DMV eye exam ?

Is there a grace period where you can still drive in order TO get glasses ? M

YOU DO NOT CONTINUE with the test process at that time.

Seriously if you cannot figure it out are you sure you are able to drive in a safe manner?

It's up to you to get yourself glasses if you want your license.

No, you don't get a temporary pass. But you'll still have options.

If you fail the vision test at the DMV (or whatever the DMV is called where you live), you have to come back with either a doctor's test report saying your vision is okay to drive or you come back with prescribed corrective lenses. Then you can proceed with the rest of the licensing process.

The first thing happens pretty often. The folks at the DMV are not medical or vision care professionals, and they know this, so they'll accept a note from a qualified doctor that says you can see well enough to drive.

And if you can't see well enough to drive, they'll prescribe lenses for you. Your licence will have a condition on it that says you need to wear those lenses while driving at all times, which is usually a little code somewhere on the licence card itself. Where I live it's called Condition X, just for example.

    Either way, problem solved.

If your license is already expired, OR if you have never had a license, there IS NO "grace period". If you're trying to RENEW a license and it hasn't expired yet, you have until the day it expires to get your glasses and take the test again.

No. If you fail the eye-exam then your license is taken away from you immediately. It is illegal to drive without a license.

There are other ways to get to an optician's that don't involve driving.
