Coffee maker water loss?

I have a Cuisinart coffee maker that I fill with one coffee pot full of water to make a pot of coffee. I guess a certain amount of evaporation should be expected but it makes one or two cups less cups of coffee than the water put into the maker. I do not believe that much evaporation takes place? The used coffee grounds absorb some water but losing one or two cups of water seems like too much water lost. What's the deal?

Actually that's normal. I fill the coffee pot with water and roughly a tenth of that liquid is gone when it becomes coffee. EX: 10 cps of water --> 9 cps of coffee
