Probably yes. Putting everything else aside (and that's quite a lot of stuff to just shuffle away and pretend doesn't exist..lol) you would think that long before this point the party would have recognized the lack of diplomacy might have some short term big gains, but gains that would ultimately lead to bigger loses. But that's kind of the game being played here, and elsewhere in Trump's business. Trump isn't interested in the long game, he's interested in what reflects well on him RIGHT NOW, and that worked well for him in his youth. With age, it's only brought him enormous responsibility for enormous problems. Everything Trump is just about BIG BIG BIG, MORE MORE MORE, BETTER BETTER BETTER...the problem is that it isn't sustainable and it has no heart, no concern for those who come after. If it all goes to hell tomorrow, Trump will rationalize that as long as it doesn't happen on his watch, he's not concerned or responsible. And that's kind of how his base is as well, very surface, very shallow, not able to comprehend beyond just the image what might be lurking beneath.
