CD's are paying around 3% at the most now. If you have money to invest there, I'd suggest a 5 year period. My feeling is it probably won't get any better than that. There is no risk with a CD as long as you don't withdraw before maturity and get a penalty. I took a lot of my money from stocks and put into a 5 year CD, like i did in the past when the rate was much better, because my experience has always been good earning and no risk. Through most of 2018, the market was up and down, ending in a wash or even negative earning. This year is beginning the same as last year. The market started but good, but went roller coaster after a coupe of months, losing all its gains in the end. The trade war and tariffs have made it crazy and negative. That's my opinion as an amateur observer. Discuss your options with a professional banker to find out how to best manage your investment.
