I have had white kitchen appliances, sinks and toilet bowls for 40 years and never not once have I ever regretted it. White is classic and always fits in.
Sure, stainless is the rage, I get it, but I don't like stainless appliances because they are hell to keep smudge free, especially if you have a pet or children or otherwise messy people in your home. Stainless looks so cold to me, always has.
I just bought a Samsung French door fridge with a freezer on the bottom (Best Buy, on sale from $1699 to $1090) and I LOVE it. Like yours, my kitchen is not all that bright, so white appliances open up the space quite a bit.
As an interior decorator, many of my clients love the look of clean stainless steel appliances but every single one of them despise the cleaning maintenance. Especially if you get an exterior water and ice feature...there are forever water marks on the "stainless" fridge door. Why they call it stainless steel is beyond me because stainless shows every little streak, speck and fingerprint.
