How are we to find the distance from B to C?

The bearing from A to C is N 64° W.

The bearing from A to B is S 82° W.

The bearing from B to C is N 26° E.

A plane flying at 350 mph takes 1.8 h to go from A to B.

180° - 64° - 82° = 34°

82° - 26° = 56° alt. int. ∠s

AB = 350 × 1.8 = 630

cos 56 = d/630

OR

sin 34 = d/630

d = 350 miles

The distance from A to B equals 1.8 × 350 miles.

∠A = 34°, ∠B = 56°, ∠C = 90°

The distance from B to C is 350 miles.
