Hardwiring dash cam, affect battery?

I’m getting my dash cam hardwired. Will it still drain the battery? I drive my car 5-6 days a week and do travel to another state a few times a year so having a dash cam is essential to me. Especially with all these idiot drivers. Will hardwiring it drain my battery

If the cam is on and the car is parked, it is using juice. If you turn the cam off when parked ( overnight). There should be no issues.

  • I've left a dome light on overnight and came back the next morning to a dead battery, but I suppose a dash cam draws less current. If it can be shut off when still connected to the power source, you should be fine.
