Please. Get the facts STRAIGHT. Rossia ceased to exist in 1920. It was the Soviet Union that was an ally with the U USA during World War 2 . FDR, Churchill and Stalin respected each other and worked together at Yalta essentially ending World War 2 in Europe. FDR died from a stroke on April 12, 1947

Tran became president, and was elected I'm 1948. China went communist in 1949. Stalin died March 2, 1953 as the USA was withdrawing from Korea. Stalin's death created a power vacuum at the top in the U.S.S.R, NOT RUSSIA. Kruschev didn't emerge on top until 1956. Sputnik 1 was launched October 12, 1957. THAT started the Cold War.

Construction in the Berlin wall did NOT start until August 1961.

This answer IDNOT CRAP. I was BORN theday AFTER STALIN DIED. This.is PERSONAL for ME.

How much are the Russians, NOT the Soviets, paying YOU PER POST to spam YA?

First -- because Hitler and Stalin had made a secret non aggression agreement that allowed them to carve up Poland and the Baltic states between them -- leading directly to the start of WW2

Secondly -- every country the Russians "liberated" , they murdered the political and educated classes and enslaved those countries for decades afterwards.

The Russian "cure" was as bad as the Nazi disease -- and remains so to this day .

Long story, but a main problem (or simplest reason) was the refusal to allow self-determination in the territory that the Russian army "Liberated". The problem was that Russia had, in effect, taken over those countries. When you go back to the very beginning of the war itself, Poland was the country whose takeover triggered the darn conflict, and yet, at the end, Poland was still not independent (along with all of eastern Europe), yet that was really the entire goal of the war: liberation of the Axis-conquered lands.

Yes, Russia was instrumental in the defeat of the Axis powers, but that did not mean Russia was correct in becoming a conqueror in precisely the same way as its enemies had been.

Because they annexed all the countries around them as a protective shield against any further attacks from the west and thereby created the Soviet Union. Then in the words of Churchill, they put an iron curtain between east and west and forced everyone under their control to take up Communism. They then started the arms race which lasted for decades and resulted in two countries having enough weapons to destroy the world 10 times over!

You're in the wrong forum if you want to talk about modern history.

This forum is full of people who rely on CNN for all their knowledge, so you're not going to get some proper discussion here.

No, you're just going to get the usual Russia-collusion conspiracy theories.

America made a huge mistake siding with the communists. We should have been allies with the Nazis.
