what does Portia s death symbolize in Julius Caesar?

    I think Portia's death from swallowing fire (or hot coals?), symbolizes, or reveals, her husband Brutus' coldness. And this unfeeling attitude toward his wife foreshadowed his cold brutality when he later leads the plot to murder his friend, Julius Caesar.
