G.K. Chesteron once observed, “I am not absentminded. It is the presence of mind that makes me unaware of everything else."
That's about as good a definition as you can get. Absented mindedness is the result of lack of focus on the things you forget. If your mind is going in multiple directions simultaneously, or you try to do that, obviously the problem is lack of direction. Lack of direction is water. The most obvious water sign that lacks direction is the mutable water sign - Pisces. That's one place to look. Other possibilities, are Mercury square Jupiter particularly if Mercury is in Pisces or Sagittarius. Mercury in the 12th or 8th is a possibility as well. I tend to think the Moon is less likely to be the culprit, but that isn't impossible.
The real point is this: what are you going to do about it? Being organized is a big help as is the habit of writing things down or making notes in your smart phone. As for misplacing objects, the only "solution" I know of is planning and paying attention to yourself until it becomes a habit. If you are constantly losing your phone or glasses, concentrate on those items whenever you have them in your possession.
And it is also possible you are beating yourself up over this and that only makes it worse. If you forget, you forget. Try harder next time.
As for astrology, try this: if you think Mercury is the problem, note the sign and house occupied by Mercury in your chart. Then note the opposite sign and house. Learn everything you can about that sign and house position then consciously practice being that way.
This is a fairly common problem in a culture where we are forever moving and doing and have all sorts of things on our minds. The trick is to get organized, and work on the problem starting now!
